How safe is it to ship my car half-way around
the world?
With British Transit Limited your car
couldn't be in safer hands, either by container
ships or Roll on-Roll off vessels.
Container
All types of vehicles, ranging from motor
cars
to road building equipment, may be transported
by container vessels.
Motor cars and small trucks can be driven into standard containers
without difficulty by using a drive-on ramp. A
gap is left open in the windows to facilitate
air circulation. Special span sets/chains are
used for lashing motor cars and small
trucks
securely to the floor of the container.
Trucks, road construction and farm
machinery can
be shipped in open top containers, or on flat
rack containers. With the use of steel wire and
tensioning screws and/or special span sets to
secure cargo. Additional wedges are placed in
front and behind all wheels.
Roll On/Roll Off
All types of cargo are treated very much the
same, that is to say with the utmost of care,
they are driven on by qualified stevedores much
the same way as when you take your car on a
passenger ferry.
The lashing and securing is
done in a similar way to containers, by special
span sets that secure it from shifting while in
transit - for example chain lashings with
tension levers. |
